In India, these Sennheiser earphones will be up against the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Live, Apple Airpods Pro, and Sony WF-1000XM3 that undercut them by a margin. Are they up for the challenging task? We find out in our Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 review. Page contents:

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2: Price and Specifications
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 review: Design and Comfort
Sennheiser Momentum TW 2 earphones look pretty solid and elegant, if not distinct. The buds are mostly built of dense matte-finish plastic and have textured metal plates as touch controls. There are two microphones on each bud to detect ambient noise and for attending calls. Both buds also have individual LED indicators that denote the connectivity status. You may hold the left and right touch control simultaneously for 5 seconds to put these in pairing mode. Sennheiser includes three extra sizes of silicon ear tips and the default one worked best for us. For a secure fit, you need to insert the buds in your ear and twist them. Voice prompts then confirm the connectivity status. The fit feels very secure and works for passive noise isolation. We didn’t face any discomfort while using these TWS earphones over long durations and even during workouts. These earphones are also IPX4 splash resistant.
The no-nonsense, bulky case has strong magnets and an inviting coarse fabric exterior that is bound to get dirty with time. The case has a button on the rear next to the USB Type-C charging port, but it can’t be used to put these earphones in pairing mode. It just lights up the battery indicator LED that denotes the charging state of the case or of the earbuds within the case. Also Check: Sony WF-1000XM3 Review
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 review: Connectivity and Features
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 connect using Bluetooth 5.1 via SBC, AAC, and aptX. We didn’t face any connection drops or any other connectivity issues over the regular Bluetooth range (10m). Sennheiser’s Smart control companion app is available for Android and iOS users and can be used to customize touch controls, Transparency mode, equalize, or for firmware updates. It’s not as well designed as Sony’s Smart Connect app, but that’s hardly an issue. As for gestures, music play back controls are all on the left bud, while google assistant and ANC related controls are on the right. We didn’t find any issue memorizing the gestures. The gestures worked reliably and we didn’t face any issues with accidental touches. Still, if you find them unintuitive, you can customize gestures or completely disable them (useful when wearing them to bed). Also Check: Oppo Enco W51 Review
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 review: Battery, Latency, and Call Quality
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 could last for around 5 hours of playback with ANC turned on. That’s on the lower side, but quite manageable. Downloading and applying a firmware depleted the battery by around 30 percent. The charging case can charge these buds thrice over. It takes around 1.5 hours to fully charge the case and buds. The earphones proved quite deft at eliminating ambient noise and call quality was excellent during our testing. The latency was very much evident while gaming. In fact, there was a noticeable lag even with system sounds like clicks when typing or with searches. This is one aspect where the Momentum TW 2 fell short. Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 review: Sound Quality and ANC
The sound quality is the reason why you’d even consider buying these. Momentum Wireless 2 employ 7mm dynamic drivers and are excellent at picking up details and nuances in music, at sound separation, and at reproducing mids with stark clarity. Sound stage width and imaging is extremely impressive. In the song Hunter by Bjork there was a wide separation between the drum beats on either side and we could clearly position different instruments as they pitched in. Momentum TW 2 could effectively pick the deep bass notes at the start of When You Believe by Prince of Egypt. Low bass rumble in James blake’s limit to your love is also very well reproduced. The bass is punchy and doesn’t mask the mids. Cymbals and high hats in Zanzibar had the required zing. The sound signature is definitely not bright but treble mostly feels well balanced. Overall, Momentum Wireless 2 are very enjoyable to hear and it was easy to immerse in music and to effortlessly notice details we had otherwise missed. Noise cancellation is pretty effective, but we’d say Sony WF-1000XM3 faired a tad better in this regard. We immensely value transparency mode on ANC earphones and Sennheiser does a good job with the one on the Momentum Wireless 2.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 review: Verdict
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 are among the best TWS options available as of today. They sound awesome, deliver decent battery mileage, have reliable gesture controls, and are comfortable to wear over long durations. Their primary competition is Sony WF-1000XM3 which have a more distinct design and slightly better noise cancellation. The Momentum True Wireless 2 are relatively more comfortable to wear over long durations. For all that’s good, Momentum True Wireless 2 still feels a tad expensive and unless you are a hardcore audiophile, there isn’t much reason to prefer these over Sony WF-1000XM3 or Apple AirPods Pro. Pros
Comfortable fit Awesome sound quality Decent ANC Reliable Touch Controls
Cons
Feel a tad overpriced High latency
