Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G
As the name suggests, Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G is an upgrade over the existing Snapdragon 778G. It is based on Qualcomm’s Kyro 670 CPU cores just like the existing 778G. 778G Plus 5G is expected to give a better GPU and CPU performance as the official page suggests that the CPU clock speed of up to 2.5GHz is slightly better than that of Snapdragon 778G’s 2.4GHz. The SoC also features the same Adreno 642L GPU but the company says that it will give 20% better performance than before. Other specifications like AI capabilities, 5G modem, other wireless connectivity options, ISP, etc, remain unchanged. Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G
This one is a successor to Snapdragon 690 (launched last year). The company claims that the 695 5G will support global 5G connectivity with support for both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G and will be up to 30% faster in GPU performance and 15% improved in CPU performance than its predecessor. Snapdragon 695 5G is based on Qualcomm’s Kyro 660 CPU cores with clock speed up to 2.2GHz and also has Adreno 619 GPU. It will be featured in affordable 5G phones. Oppo is expected to be the first brand to launch a phone with this chipset.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G
Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G is an upgrade over the existing 480 with 5G connectivity and better performance promise. It is an 8nm chip featuring Qualcomm’s Kyro 460 CPU paired up with Adreno 619 GPU. It also features a Snapdragon X51 5G modem RF system, support for FHD+ displays, 120Hz refresh rate, Spectra 345 ISP, and QC4+ support. Nokia will be the first brand to launch a smartphone with this new chipset.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G
The only 4G chipset announced by the company is the Snapdragon 680 4G. It is a successor to Snapdragon 675 and is built on a 6nm process, designed to offer an all-day experiences. It is meant for better gaming performance and support for triple ISP with AI-enhanced low light capture technology. It also packs a Snapdragon X11 LTE modem, Fast Connect 6100 Subsystem, Spectra 246 ISP, and QC3 support. The SoC is meant for budget-friendly smartphones that offer FHD+ displays at a peak 90Hz refresh rate. Tech giants like HMD Global, Honor, Motorola, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi will be the first ones to launch their smartphones powered by these chipsets.
