As it seems, the smartphone has a unique design, a completely new experience when it comes to the operating system, and a decent rear camera system. The design of the smartphone looks heavily inspired by iPhones, though, as it has flat edges and an almost identical side frame. Here we will discuss what was and was not exciting in the Nothing Phone (1). Moreover, we will help you figure out should you buy it or ditch it. Jump To..

The Glyph is bliss

Yes, you read it right, the Glyph interface introduced by Nothing is something new for all of us. It works as a medium to make the phone more interactive through the multiple combinations of various ringtones presented by the LED strips at the back panel. The strips synchronize with the ringtone and light up in different formats.

Snappy interface

No doubt the smartphone is snappy and offers you a seamless experience while toggling between windows and switching applications. Major credit for the same goes to the 120Hz refresh rate of the device.

No-nonsense camera setup

Other brands offer a triple rear camera setup, including a 2MP tertiary camera, and we know how useless it is. Denying the old school method of increasing the sensors, Nothing has focused more on providing two powerful sensors at the back. Both of them are 50MP sensors, out of which one of them has a wide field of view. You can also toggle between macro and pro modes in the settings.

Is the processor worthy as per the pricing point

Well, here, our answer is no. You can get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ processor in devices like Moto Edge 30, which is available for Rs 27,999. Furthermore, brands like iQOO and Realme are offering devices, iQOO Neo 6 5G and Realme GT Neo 2 5G, with Snapdragon 870 SoC at a similar price as Nothing Phone (1), which is a significant drawback.

Not that powerful charging support

This emerges out as a major concern for the Nothing Phone (1). In the era where Nord series phones under Rs 30,000 offer around 80W fast charging like the OnePlus Nord 2T, Nothing has started its journey with a 33W fast charging support.

No charger in the box

Now, this can be said the be the most impactful turnoff. The Nothing Phone (1) doesn’t have a charger in the box. It seems they got inspired by Apple in the wrong direction. So if you are planning to buy this device, you have to buy the Nothing adapter individually, which is available at a price of Rs 1,499 in the Indian market via Flipkart. Now, if we will see the whole scenario logically, then the cost of the base variant with 8GB RAM will be Rs 33,498.

Conclusion

So, in our article, we have mentioned all the attractive and problematic things with the smartphone. And somewhere, I’ll agree that the smartphone is a bit overpriced considering that the audience is supposed to buy the charger separately too. The charging speed of the phone is also not impressive.  The only thing which we found captivating about the device is the Glyph interface, Nothing OS, and decent sensors. The first sale stats of the smartphone will give us a better idea of how the audience reacts to the pricing barrier between them and the handset.  Nonetheless, we can say that due to the pricing, the Nothing Phone (1) fails to be revolutionary. Let’s wait to see how much the audience will show love to the same in terms of sales.
