Guys at 9to5google have found this support in a teardown session of the Android 12 v1.0.416751293 (beta), where they found a widget for Digital Wellbeing, that can show the total screen time of yours on the home screen. When expanded, it shows the screen time of the top three apps.
Digital Wellbeing Widget in Android 12
Having tons of apps and browsing through all of them for checking quick items is a hassle. So there’s a concept of the digital widget, where you can stick one onto your home screen, and see a few quick items easily. This concept has been in Android for a while, but it’s not widely available for all apps. As it’s the responsibility of the app developers to make one, Google is preparing widgets for several of its popular apps like YouTube Music, Google Photos, and Play Books. Apart from these, we now have evidence that Google is also working on the Digital Wellbeing widget. As shared by the researchers at 9to5google, a teardown into the Android 12’s latest beta v1.0.416751293 revealed that Google is working on a dedicated widget for the Digital Wellbeing service. This, as per the screenshots shared, will appear in a 2×1 block to show the total screen time of the user. And when tapped on it to expand, it will show the screen time of the top three apps. This widget is said to support Android 12’s wallpaper-based theming engine and can change colors based on the current wallpaper. Also, there’s support for the dark and light themes too. This widget isn’t live in the current beta release and may come in the next beta update of Android 12.
