Vivobook Pro 14 OLED Review: Design

The Asus Vivobook Pro 14 OLED has a good-looking but minimal design. The laptop has a durable build thanks to its aluminum body. The top lid contains the Vivobook logo. The notebook comes in 2 colorways- Solar Silver and Cosmos Blue. I received the Solar Silver model for review purposes and found it a refreshing change from all the other laptops I have been experiencing as most of them were in black or dark blue shades. The silver color looks stylish and gives a premium feel to the device. It has a matte finish and is sleek in design. The laptop doesn’t catch many smudges which is also a plus. The Vivobook weighs a mere 1.4 kg and is 18.9mm thick. It can be carried around with one hand as it is not too heavy and its 14-inch display with narrow bezels offers decent-sized visuals. The laptop will easily fit into any of your existing laptop bags as the size is compact. The Vivobook pro 14 OLED has a good palm rest area and features a variety of I/O ports on both sides. I will talk more about it in the connectivity section. ALSO READ: Motorola G82 5G Review – A mid-ranger that widens your horizon

Vivobook Pro 14 OLED Review: Display

The Vivobook Pro 14 OLED has a 14-inch OLED display with a 2.8K resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, 0.2ms response time, and 90Hz refresh rate. The display produces good visuals, whether watching a movie or attending a video conference. The blacks are deep, the colors are accurate, and the viewing angles are decent. 600 nits peak brightness works well indoors but poses a problem if you are using the laptop outdoors where there is sunlight. The brightness level feels low when sunlight falls on the screen as the legibility gets reduced. Asus has made this Vivobook emit 70% less harmful blue light and it is SGS Eye Care certified as well. This makes sure one’s eyes don’t feel strained even after working all day. One major drawback is that the display is not a touchscreen. However, being touchscreen would have made this Vivobook even better, but then that would have seen an increase in prices as well.

Vivobook Pro 14 OLED Review: I/O Ports & Connectivity

The Vivobook Pro 14 OLED comes with a host of connectivity ports. The right side consists of a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port and a power port to plug in the charger. It also contains an HDMI 1.4 port and, a 3.5mm headphone jack. The left side features 2 USB 2.0 ports and a microSD card reader. There are plenty of ports to provide good connectivity but the absence of a USB Type-C port is troublesome as one will need a cable or a dongle to connect your smartphone to the Vivobook.

Vivobook Pro 14 OLED Review: Keyboard, & Trackpad

The Vivobook Pro 14 OLED has an edge-to-edge keyboard. The keyboard is backlit and has an integrated fingerprint sensor in the power button. This will help you unlock the device quickly. The Enter key on the keyboard has a twill pattern that makes it look different from all the other keys. The keyboard is comfortable to use as the keys have good spacing and are soft to the touch. The build of the keyboard is solid. Coming to the trackpad has a large trackpad that gives good finger space to navigate seamlessly. There is no Numpad, which can be a downside for some as the absence of the Numpad makes typing numbers a bit difficult.

Vivobook Pro 14 OLED Review: Performance & Gaming

The Asus Vivobook Pro 14 OLED comes in 2 processor variants- AMD Ryzen 7 580H and Ryzen 5 5600H. I used the Ryzen 7 variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. The laptop is fast and efficient while performing all your day-to-day tasks. These include streaming content, surfing the internet, typing documents, browsing social media, playing games, and watching content. 16GB RAM makes sure various tabs run well simultaneously without any lags or stutters. I once had around 8 tabs opened together and I did not encounter any issue while switching between them. Watching content is also a good experience on this device. Gaming on this laptop is just about average. It comes with Radeon Graphics and thus games like Battleground India PC will run smoothly only with low graphic and frame rate settings. If you wish to play heavier games like Asphalt 9 or AAA titles, then you will be disappointed as the laptop can’t handle high frame rates and top-class graphics. I performed some benchmark tests on the Vivobook Pro 14 OLED, the results of which are below- When attending video calls on this laptop, I found the webcam on the laptop to be ok in terms of picture quality. The privacy shutter is a new addition and that works well. There are 8 vents at the bottom side and these make sure that the thermal performance is maintained well. The laptop doesn’t get heated up even after long hours of usage. It runs windows 11 OS and the laptop does hang sometimes when you try to run certain editing apps. It has inbuilt speakers which give audio that is loud enough but gets distorted when volume levels are high. The Vivobook comes with 9 vents at the bottom that ensures proper airflow, keeping the temperatures under control. The laptop temperature stayed in control even while long gaming sessions, which is good. Just make sure you don’t place the laptop directly onto your lap, as the hot air from the vents can be harmful.

Vivobook Pro 14 OLED Review: Battery

The Vivobook Pro 14 OLED comes with a 50Wh battery that ran for around 5-6 hours easily when I performed tasks like video calling, mailing, typing, browsing, etc. While binge-watching content, the battery lasted for around 4-.5 hours which is decent enough. Gaming does drain the battery a little faster so use your 90W fast charging adapter to get the device recharged. The 90W adapter inside the box gives a very good charging speed as it charges from 0 to 100% in just about 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Vivobook Pro 14 OLED Review Verdict: Should you buy it?

The Asus Vivobook Pro 14 OLED (2022) is a laptop that is packed with features. It has a good processor, minimal design, beautiful display, good battery life with rapid charging capability, and dedicated I/O Ports. Although there is no USB Type-C port, Numpad, or graphics card, and its webcam and speakers are pretty underwhelming, but then these can be ignored if you want a power-packed laptop under the price tag of 70k.
